About Us

Christ College History

Christ Arts and Science College was established in 2008 by the Catholic Christian Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore at Kilachery Village, Thiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu, South India to promote Higher Education among the rural poor.

The Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore has a history of over 500 years of offering spiritual services, social welfare and education to the poor and needy in Chennai City and the neighbouring Districts of Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram.

DESK SECRETARY

In a time of natural disaster and deadly pandemic, the role of education is more vital in creating awareness among the students. Success in life comes only when one makes the right kind of efforts in these difficult situations. Rejuvenating students and changing their perspective about life is the recent focus of the educationist in forming a better future. Christ College of Arts & Science has not only strived in giving education to the marginalized but also stood firm in maintaining the discipline and decorum of a perfect Christian Institution.

The teaching and non-teaching staff of Christ College Community have always laboured in creating academicians for building an intellectual society. In doing so, we always focused on education which aims at overall development of the student’s character. As an Educational Institution in the rural area, Christ College family is glad to extend its arms to all the sections of the society. Innovative ideas, challenging circumstances and organized team work  have made the students join Christ College family. Thus, our joint endeavors in forming an intellectual community will result in successful and bright future.

The Archdiocese limited itself all this while, to provide school level education for people in its consistency. But today, in a totally changed socio-economic scenario after globalization, sensing people’s needs and aspirations, the Diocese has ventured into providing University Education to the marginalized poor.

As always, it will provide these educational services with the clear bias for the socially and economically disadvantaged people, come but with no discrimination based on caste, creed or language

Christ College is a self-financing co-educational, Christian minority institution, approved by the Department of Higher Education, Government of Tamilnadu and affiliated to the University of Madras.
